I discovered it from a friend when I was like 9/10 back in around 2009 and I played it. Took forever to actually get membership though. But my god, been playing for far, far too long.
Think I first came about the game back when RS2 was in that odd area of space between the Signature Heroes' implementation and EoC being introduced, when it was still a browser session linked to via Miniclip. Never made it far back then - went the long way 'round into the Sand Casino, couldn't figure how to return to Lumby, and bounced.
Glad I found OSRS again, think just after Prif was added in. Been bouncing between both games since, enjoying the ride!
2007 miniclip. It was the header on the website and the colour palete looked right up what i enjoy so i gave it a try. Kept forgeting about the game and coming back year after year till 2014 where i stayed for good.
Heard about it from a kid at school back in 2004. I had only just recently gotten Internet at home so I wasn't extremely Online yet, so that actually ended up being my first real Online experience aside from watching some silly videos on a Newgrounds knockofff site called like killsometime I think
I tried RuneScape a few times when I was a kid, probably after hearing about it from other kids at school, but I never really got too into it back then. I'd usually make an account, bop some goblins, chop some trees, and then log off. I didn't really get the game at the time. It wasn't until around 2018 when I decided to give OSRS a shot, expecting the same experience. The rest, as they say, is history.
A buddy of mine found out about it in january of 2001 on a forum where it had been posted by Andrew Gower. Then he told me about it so I joined as well. I stuck to the game long after my friend quit. My original account was probably one of the first 1000 or so accounts!
Back in 2006, when I was 10 years old, a friend of mine asked me if I'd ever played RuneScape while we were waiting outside the classroom before the school day started. Told him I hadn't and he basically explained what the game was and I thought it sounded interesting, so I said I'd try it out. And later that day, after I did my homework, I did. Went to the RuneScape website and created my first account that evening.
I think I eventually quit (or rather just got bored enough with the game I just stopped logging in) some time in 2010. Didn't come back to the game until late 2013, early 2014. I'm assuming it was 2014 post-Treasure Hunter release in RS3 because I have quite literally zero memory of the Squeal of Fortune. I remember getting back into the game and I ended up getting membership again and I did login to OSRS and played a little bit but I didn't wanna 'waste' my membership by redoing all of the beginner stuff I'd already done years ago. Then they made OSRS F2P (and I wasn't regularly subscribing to the game then, I'd just pick up a membership gift card here and there when I felt like it) so I figured since I was mostly playing as a free account, it wouldn't feel like a waste to do the low level stuff again now. So I basically switched over entirely to OSRS from that day forward. I do occasionally play RS3 because that's the account that my current account has been active on since 2007 but yeah.
My partner used to play RS2 back in the day but I was too busy with school and clubs/bands to do much gaming. After graduation I checked out OSRS a few times before finding a creator and guild that stuck with me (Hannanie and the Grass Punks), and I've been playing pretty regularly with the Frog Kissers up to now!
